About the Event
All music is a mirror reflecting its time and place, and jazz is especially so.
The “Good Neighbors” concert will include two live performances: The Idit Shner Quartet and RatieD with all proceeds benefiting the borehole campaign.
Up-and-coming afro-jazz artist RatieD will perform her original songs in anticipation of her debut album release later this year. With hits such as "Woman of Africa," "Golite," and "Soka Lami" if you haven't seen her live, now is your chance. If you have seen her before, you are likely looking forward to experiencing her incredible energy on the stage again!
Idit Shner, featured on saxophone with both RatieD and Thomas Mapfumo at the “Black Freedom Concert” is a highly accomplished musician, composer, and UO Philip H. Knight Chair in the School of Music and Dance, (check her out here and here) her jazz quartet will debut music that is a direct result of Idit’s friendship and collaboration with percussionist and Mambira Foundation founder, John Mambira, that melds Zimbabwean rhythms with the jazz tradition.
Proceeds benefit Mambira Foundation's Campaign to Build a Well.
Attire: Semi-formal (ooh-la-la) and layer appropriately for the evening weather.
